Compulsory Child marriage of a girl in Hinduism

Image sourced from ©The Independent

Child marriage which is an inhuman practice for the present society who claim that child marriage is not in Hinduism. This is my writing to make them aware

1.Manusmriti: 9.94

त्रिंशद्वर्षो वहेत् कन्यां हृद्यां द्वादशवार्षिकीम् ।

त्र्यष्टवर्षोऽष्टवर्षां वा धर्मे सीदति सत्वरः ॥

A man, aged thirty years, shall marry a maiden of twelve who pleases him, or a man of twenty-four a girl eight years of age; if (the performance of) his duties would (otherwise) be impeded, (he must marry) sooner.

2.Manusmriti: 9.88

इन्द्रियाणां विचरतां विषयेष्वपहारिषु ।

संयमे यत्नमातिष्ठेद् विद्वान् यन्तैव वाजिनाम् ॥

The wise man should put forth an effort to restrain his organs roaming among alluring objects; just as the driver restrains the horses.

3.Parashar smriti 7.5-6

“The mother, and the father, and likewise the eldest brother, all these three relatives will go to hell, if before menstruation they neglect to marry the girl”

5. Yama Samhita verse 22

“The father, who does give away [in marriage] his maiden-daughter after she has attained the twelfth year, drinks her menstrual blood, month after month.”

Child marriage of a girl (marriage before menstruation)  is compulsory in Hinduism otherwise the father commits sin and girl is considered as degraded

6. Manusmriti: 9.4

कालेऽदाता पिता वाच्यो वाच्यश्चानुपयन् पतिः ।

मृते भर्तरि पुत्रस्तु वाच्यो मातुररक्षिता ॥

Censurable is the father who gives her not away at the right time; censurable the husband who approaches her not; and censurable the son who, on the death of her husband, does not take care of her

7.Gautama Dharmasutra 18.21-22

A girl should be given in marriage before (she attains the age of) puberty. He who neglects it, commits sin.

8. Vashishtha Dharmasutra 17.69-70

Now they quote also (the following verses) But if through a father’s negligence a maiden is here given away after the suitable age has passed, she who was waiting (for a husband) destroys him who gives her away, just as the fee which is paid too late to the teacher (destroys the pupil).’70. ‘Out of fear of the appearance of the menses let the father marry his daughter while she still runs about naked. For if she stays (in the house) after the age of puberty, sin falls on the father.’

9.Padma Purana II.47.47-65

“The father should keep his daughter in his house till she becomes eight years old. He should not keep a strong (i.e. grown up) one. Both the parents get the (fruit of the) sin which a daughter, living in her father’s house, commits.”

10. Yajnavalkya smriti: 1.64

[ A qualified person , ] not giving away maiden , ) will be visited by the sin of the destruction of foetus at every time of her menses . In the absence of a give , the maiden should herself give her away .

11. Devi Bhagavatam: 9.41.26-47

“The World-Mother never stays even for a moment in his house who eats at the house of one who marries an unmarried girl twelve years old in whom menstruation has commenced…
